Yesterday was perfect for Wine Over Water, an annual Chattanooga fund raiser organized by Cornerstones to preserve the architectural heritage and urban fabric of our city. The event is held on the Walnut Street Bridge, a 117-year old structure transformed in 1993 into one the longest pedestrian parks in the U.S. Over 100 wineries were represented in 40-plus tents. One particular standout for me was the 2005 Schlink Haus Riesling Kabinett ideal for an aperitif or dessert due to it's strong lychee flavor and light finish. This is an unusual selection for me since I don't normally like sweet wines— and this discovery is exactly why the tasting is so fun.
WoW has also turned into an annual party for the carpet industry and it was fun to see so many old friends and to make new ones. So here's a shout out to a few I happened to run into: John, Brenda, Carrie and the rest of the Shaw crew, Jack and Natalie from Mannington Commercial, Holly from Contract, Nat from Lees, Kaye from Milliken and apologies to names I don't recall… wine does not improve memory. Next year I'll take a camera.

Since May several employees of Frog Design have volunteered to carry their trash with them for two week periods. Their objective is to challenge our cultural habit of disposal and inspire a less wasteful lifestyle — ultimately affecting Frog's design process too. Read each participant's messy details at Trash Talk Blog.

Today's launch of our new corporate web site is our first major web update in three years and our fifth redesign since 2002. I hope you find the new user interface as interesting as the previous one. Though we're approaching 40 employees we don't see any reason "corporate" must be conventional.
Over the next few months we'll add new content to the site, especially in the Case Study section. An interesting feature here is the "point of view" option. We serve manufacturers and designers and believe it's a good idea to tell our stories so that everyone sees the big picture.
Thanks to our friends at Coptix who connected their content management system into our design. I think we probably helped to expand their R&D… ;-) It's a cool feature that makes it simple for our comm staff to make quick updates without interrupting our development team's workflow.

The Guardian has a fascinating and sobering photo gallery that juxtaposes satellite photos of the same regions captured in different decades. This photo shows deforestation in Rondonia, Brazil over a 25-year period .
